Springing forward in January 2013

Meridian Classical Center for Learning (MCCL) continues to offer an academic enrichment program for children in kindergarten and elementary years through secondary school.  Our lower elementary group meets Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 AM- 3:00PM, and includes K4 - K5,  and grades 1 - 2.  A solid phonics foundation, classic story read a-louds, foreign languages, art, science experiments, and reading music with a certified Kindermusik instructor are but a few of the things these children will accomplish.  Grades 3 - 5 comprise the upper elementary group, which also meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Logic and math games, Spanish, Chinese, and memory work in history, geography, Latin, and science will set these students apart from their peers. Our older students meet together Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for middle school/high school level endeavors  like Latin, literature, composition, history, and science that will give them a competitive edge for the next stage in their lives.  For a full description of each group's curriculum, please see our Pages link.

Opportunities have abounded this spring for our students to engage in exciting hands-on learning. Such events as dissecting sheep brains and cow eyes in the high school A & P science class, to the costumed dramatizations by the middle schoolers  of scenes from Across Five Aprils , to the making of salt maps of MS by the K4-K5 class to learn state geography, have enhanced recent educational experiences. The grade 1-2 class has been busy incorporating sign language into their class meory work, and the grade 3-5 students have been diligently working on their Pointelism and stained -glass art projects. Next week there will be President's Day and Black History Month student project presentations during our group chapel time.

It's hard to believe it is already time to plan for the 2013-2014 school year. Meridian Classical will host informational Open House sessions Monday, February 25th at 6:00 PM and Thursday, February 28th at 10:00AM. Interested parents may attend either session to tour the facility, meet staff, and obtain registration information. See for yourself why our students are so excited about their experiences at MCCL.
