Here We Go Again...

Another completed school year behind us, another new one ahead! It will be here before you know it, so consider joining us now at Meridian Classical Center for Learning for an exciting year during 2016-2017. Beginning August 16, 2016, students in K5- Grade 8 can come experience learning in exciting, innovative ways that we hope will lead to greater curiosity and a multisensory approach to understanding God's world around them. What We Do

Meridian Classical exists to support parents in their homeschool journey by providing excellent tutors trained in using the classical tools of learning. We offer a 2-day program designed to anchor and complement the learning done at home. Memory work is a key component. Concepts are introduced in class and then parents reinforce them during the school week at home. Those messy art projects and science experiments get done without wrecking the kitchen. Children enjoy the camaraderie, and busy moms have time to do the necessary things that so often crowd in on our precious teachable moments.

What is Classical?

The classical method recognizes three stages of learning - grammar, logic and rhetoric. These comprise the trivium. The grammar stage involves acquiring knowledge, the nuts and bolts of a subject. This corresponds nicely with the developmental stage during childhood when children are information sponges. They crave facts, and are impatient with "gray areas." The logic stage corresponds with understanding the interrelationship of the nuts and bolts.This is perfect for early teens, who are beginning to question, argue and discuss. In the rhetoric stage, the student gains the ability to persuasively express his point of view. This corresponds loosely to biblical wisdom, in which knowledge and understanding inform one's thinking. Late teens have a strong desire to share their ideas and make an impact on their world. With a classical Christian education, our young people will be ready to go into the world, knowing God, and able to make Him known.
